Summary/Abstract: It is worth noticing that the veneration of Mother Mary in Orthodox Church is not undermined by the lack of a systematic theological presentation. The richness of the Orthodox tradition has not yet led to the emergence of speculative investigations in this subject. There is a fear of rationalizing the mystery. Orthodox theology textbooks do not include chapters dedicated to Mariology. It is natural for them to consider Marian teaching within the realm of Christology. The truth about Mary’s motherhood of God is more of a Christological rather than Mariological truth. Orthodox Marian veneration expresses the Christological dogma. The relation of unity with the mystery of Jesus Christ constitutes its central norm and evaluative criterion.
