Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the night of the gender perspective, as a social experience of women, reflected in the memoirs, created by them. An analysis of the memoir texts (diaries, memoirs, biographical interviews, and fiction) published/ created by Bulgarian women intellectuals in 19-20th century is done. These narratives are compared with those written by men. Night does not occupy a central place in the Bulgarian women’s memoirs, but it is presented in different ways depending on age, social background, social status and experience of women. In women’s biographical narratives night is seen mainly in several meanings related to female identity: fear, normativity, intimacy and violence.
