Summary/Abstract: The paper represents the case of new martyrdoom of Saint George the New and Saint Nikola the New which happened in 16th century in Sofia. In the borders of the Ottoman empire the new martyrdoom was an ideology which was considered as a reaction of the Balkan peoples against the attempts of the invadors vilently to change the faith of the Christians. The clergy was the main organizer of the events contributing for the preservation of the Christian community in the years of the Ottoman rule. Some of the features of the life-legends of the two Sofia martyrs which are related to the topic of night are considered . what were the events which happened in the night; how did they influence the destiny of the Saints; what was the role of their spiritual tutors in the night hours; what was the behavior of the martyrs in the dangeon.
