Consortium benchmarking between information services of municipal libraries

Summary/Abstract: Communities of practice, comprising representatives of different libraries, applied informal consortium benchmarking in their development and evaluation project. Sharing knowledge and practices were considered very important by the participants, and even small units could contribute to the development. This paper describes the practices of sharing knowledge concerning information service in public libraries. The study is based on information gathered by interviews and questionnaires from the participants, and project documentation, the contents of which have been studied qualitatively.
