Summary/Abstract: The author presents the features of a stereotypical Pole among French and French self-stereotype. Not many information about Poland and Poles appear in French media; that is why French associations in this field are rare. Poland is associated with a ghetto in Warsaw, Auschwitz, countryside scenery, vodka and poverty. Polish man has fair hair and blue eyes; Polish woman is tall, slim, and blonde. In French statements about themselves one can distinguish between a (self-)stereotypical image and the one that respondents would like to create in relation to their personal reflection.
