Summary/Abstract: This study represents a punctual analysis of the anthropomorphic representations discovered at Mălăieştii de Jos, the discussion being focused on the context, typology, morphological details, fragmentation, necessary information in order to provide some explanations concerning this category of artefacts found here. The anthropomorphic representations discovered are not numerous, but with in this site we found almost the entire typology of anthropomorphic representations specific to the Eneolithic Age. The pieces are in most cases negligently modelled, decorations and anatomical details are missing, sexual features are rarely marked. Of more than 50 pieces, only one is made of bone, the others are modelled in clay. We can’t notice a concern for the primary visual appearance, but it seems to exist a respect for traditions. All of the pieces are fragmentary, not one single piece preserves all anatomical segments. The placement of this settlement in northern Wallachia, at the southern periphery of the Subcarpathian hills, in an area of cultural contacts, is reflected in the typology of plastic representations. There are usually pieces that seem to express the peripheral character of this settlement and a mixture of cultural traditions, but they were also discovered statuettes whose formand decorations place them clearly with in a well defined cultural context. These pieces, Gumelniţa and Cucuteni, can be correlated with sequences of housing and internal development of the settlement.
