Summary/Abstract: This paper compiles the data on the reception of Cervantes and his work in Serbia, since the 18th to the 21st century. The diffusion of the author or/and his works is presented through three main paths – translations, reception in literary criticism and (quixotic) traces in narrative fiction. Special mention is paid to the fact that the sympathy for both heroes, one from Alcalá and the other from La Mancha, is still alive among the readers and in Serbian society. We also outline the possible reasons for it.
