Illustrators of Quixotes of Children and Teenagers in Serbia

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we present the drawings of five illustrators made for various Quixotes for children and teenagers in Serbia. We examine the adaptations of the novel published in 1931, 1942, 1958, 1967, and 2008, focusing mainly on the graphic material that accompanies them. Through the analysis of these contributions, we intend to figure out if the selection of the episodes and the approach to Cervantes’ text are reflections, and to what grade, of the socio-cultural milieu and the period of its creation, as well as of the personality of each artist.
