Summary/Abstract: As a continuation of the author's investigations of the Austrian diplomacy during the 1848 revolution in the Danubian principalities under Ottoman suzeranity, Wallachia and Moldavia, published in the previous issues of the "Anuarul Institutului de Istorie Cluj", the present study exploits 61 documents of the 1848 Fund housed by the History Institute "George Bariţiu" from Cluj-Napoca, regarding Austria's consulate in Serbia. The paper debates the following topics: the territorial organization and the political status of Serbia, Vojvodina, Banat before the revolution; the development of the main events in Serbia in 1848 and 1849; the biography of the Austrian consul in Belgrade, Ferdinand Mayerhofer von Grünbühl; the consul's activity and role in the Serbian 1848 revolution.
