Summary/Abstract: The photography has always had the position between the private and public space. On the one hand the picture aims at keeping personal memories, on the other hand the picture is socialization in a peculiar manner, a strategy and manipulation of the community’s idea of the person. The photograph shows the desire to present an individual in a pleasing to the society manner. The photo stereotype is a good direction to look for new and attractive ways in foreign language learning which is oriented at training in critical thinking, creating social strategies and competence in foreign language communication. The paper offers practical observation of the stereotypes on the Balkans and the motivation for language learning, especially Bulgarian, of students from Cyprus.
