Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author presents an unpublished nephrite pendant discovered in the settlement of Sălcuţa–Piscul Cornişorului (Dolj County) over six decades ago. The artefact is a schematized anthropomorphic figurine, and is the only one of its type in Romanian archaeology. We analyze here the possible significance of this artefact and the special material it was made of, as nephrite undoubtedly held special symbolic meaning in prehistory.
