Older manpower on the labour market-international experiences and national challenges

Summary/Abstract: This work anticipates the increasingly underlined role of active aging of the population in all EU, more relevant documents and strategies. The work includes indicators about the employment of the older manpower in some of the EU countries and the world, as well as the unemployment status and the educational structure of this category of people in the Republic of Macedonia.The findings of this work indicate the need to adapt the global labour market to the older manpower, in line with the EU practices where an integrated Flexicurity strategy is implemented with regard to this population. The work elaborates the need to adapt to the flexible labour market requirements, combined with the appropriate level of security which applies to both employers and workers. The work in particular deals with the strategic approaches of individual EU countries with regard to the older manpower, where special review is prepared in the fields of educational policy, social partnership and networking, activities taken by workers and employers, working environment – health strategies of the labour market, awareness raising for activities and initiatives by companies, role of social security systems, etc.
