Summary/Abstract: In the Romanian sanitary system the majority of organizations – hospitals, medical centers, medical cabinets, medical laboratories – belong to the category of small and middle sized enterprises, according to the EU classification criteria. The purpose of continuous professional forming of the medical personnel in the Romanian sanitary system is to help increasing of SME-s performances in this activity area and to ad higher value to the quality of medical act. An important contribution to the development of SME-s has the state effort. The state institutions – the Ministry, the National House of Health Assurance, and professional organizations – made and still make efforts to develop and improve quality in the medical act. In this respect normative acts were issued regarding to: development of human resources by applying and respecting the medical education program, by displaying national health programs financed by the state budget, and also by accessing EU financed programs with. This work emphasis the contribution of continuous professional development of the medical personnel to the increasing competitiveness of the small and middle sized enterprises of the sanitary system in Romania.
