Summary/Abstract: The concept of sustainable development refers to a way of economic growth that satisfies needs of society - that means short, mediun and long term wellfare. It is founded on the idea that development must satisfy present needs without damaging needs of the future generations. în practical terms that means creating conditions for long term economic development and simultaneously protecting environment. The sustainable development concept comprises all the ways and means of social and economic development, based primarily on assuring an equilibrim of these social-economic systems with the elements of natural capital. în the Romanian health care system most of the organizations as hospitals, medical centers, medical analyse laboratories belong to the cathegory of small and middle sized enterprises, if the European Union’s enterprise classification criteria are taken into account. în the present paper the existence possibility of a strategy for sustainable development of small and middle sized enterprizes în the Romanian health care system is outlined.
