AN EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VARIOUS TEACHING STRATEGIES APPLIED IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Summary/Abstract: The article presents research results of a study of pupils in primary and middle schools in central Poland. The research assesses the effectiveness of the use of various methods and didactic techniques in relation to pupils’ interest in nature, biology and environmental protection. The work also evaluates pupils’ approach to the environment. The research shows that field trips, observations and experiments directly carried out in the environment itself, all of which are highly valued, do not influence pupils’ interest in nature, biology, or environmental protection, because teachers rarely use these methods, or do not use them at all.
