The issues of speech genre transformations against the discourse theory
Problematyka przemian gatunków mowy wobec teorii dyskursu

Summary/Abstract: This paper regards the possibility to use the theory of discourse as a field that is complementary to text linguistics, stylistics, and genology for conducting research on speech genre transformations. Allowing for various profiles of the notion “discourse” enables a more precise, broader and deeper problematisation of the reflection on evolution of communication forms. The discussions were based on the source studies carried out by the author earlier and on other researchers’ theoretical and empirical discussions concerning the evolution of romance, travel writing genres, selected generic forms occurring on the Internet, and genres involving gender-related discourses.
