Disputable and undisputable problems of the contemporary genology

Summary/Abstract: This paper regards research on genres, that is established forms of communication activity between members of a (communicative or discoursive) community, conducted as part of philological sciences and beyond. The author discusses the prospect to create a discipline combining theoretical, historical and practical perspectives. She describes fundamental difficulties involved in attempts to proclaim the non-adjectival genology. She considers the manner of defi ning the object of the research, in particular the notion of a genre and selected notional context components, that is discourse, style and text, a disputable issue. She also point to problems related to the tradition of monodisciplinary research. She presents selected separatist tendencies and discerns chances for integration in transdisciplinary research, which go beyond philology.
