Summary/Abstract: The article reports the international conference "Socialist Realism in Art: Problems of Interpretation" organised by Latvian National Museum of Art on 19-20 May 2008. It brought together scholars from Latvia, Russia, Poland and Lithuania to discuss the impact of Socialist realism in theory, painting, sculpture, advertising and photography.
