Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the way in which the decrees of the Council of Trent were confirmed by Pope Pius IV. and the role of a newly established Congregation of Council in interpreting of these decrees. It presents the revision of the Corpus iuris canonici by Correctores Romani and comments on the impact of these factors on canon law both in theory and in practice as well as in the ecclesiological context after the Council of Trent.
