Summary/Abstract: As per 24.08.2016 the full text article had to be removed due to copyright issues. The mental health problems from Romanian penitentiary system admit an alarmingly situation: from an approximately total, in 2007, of the 34,000 inmates incarcerated, approximately 4.800 (13%) had been diagnosed with a mental health disease, which represents that in Romania’s penitentiary system, 1 in 7 persons are diagnosed as mentally ill. Unfortunately, in spite of the alarming data there are no constant and professional programs for this category of beneficiaries and the functionality of a multidisciplinary team do not manage by reason of professional elation. Even if in 2009 the number of incarcerated people decreases, the problem of a large number of persons with mental health problems in penitentiaries will remain true and the absence of the programs developed for these inmates, also.
