CHARACTERISTICS AND TRENDS OF EVOLUTION ON THE MODERN BATTLEFIELD

Summary/Abstract: There have been confrontations between people along with their appearance and their first forms of organization. They have evolved throughout history with the development of society itself. Their development area has expanded in proportion to the combat forces involved and to the means of combat power used as well. Therefore, the terminology that designates the place of the armed confrontation has undergone a constant evolution from „battlefield” to „battle space” and, more recently, to „operating environment” as a term embracing the phenomenon. In our opinion, the collocation „battle space” is relevant in resolving the main aspects of our scientific approach and therefore we will use it throughout the paper. We will not miss any operational environment involved issues and we will try to analyze this topic.
