Summary/Abstract: Slovakia will probably not avoid the new terrorism threat to its security. As after the fall of the Iron Curtain other previously unknown or hidden security risks found their way into Slovakia, so with the gradual integration of this country into Western integration groupings, a real danger has been emerging that Slovakia, in addition to the advantages of membership of the West, will also share in new risks including terrorism or, potentially, international terrorism. All countries formerly known as post-communist are confronted with this problem.
