Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an unpublished work by Todor Todorov titled “Vestiges of the folk ritual and festive system and its rethinking in contemporary artistic everyday life. Folk fairs and other contemporary shows of folk traditions. Folklore and stage (Between the 1950s until the late 1970s)”. The manuscript is not dated, which is quite untypical of Todor Todorov. The article was probably intended for the multivolume edition of the History of Bulgarian Music Culture. What future is in store for the folk heritage? What is the new being of the songs and instrumental tunes on concert stages and at folk fairs? How do composers’ interventions influence folk works and how do songs yield to authors’ creative ideas? What do companies and folk fairs tend to the manner of performance and the communicative performance/audiences process? What is the media contribution to the functional universalization of folk heritage? Using this work along with other publications by Todor Todorov, his views of the changes in traditional culture and the ways in which the music of this culture continues its existence in modern society are traced out.
