Summary/Abstract: The paper present my ongoing efforts to collect and record the work of composer Apostol Nikolaev-Strumsky (1886–1971). The idea is to make a comprehensive presentation of his compositional heritage through unpublished scores rather than solely through his popular Mass for Mixed Choir (published in 1926) alone. The archives of music scores of the churches, where he used to conduct (St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (1924–1935); the Church of St Sophia (1935–1942); the churches of the Apostolic Exarchate of Sofia (the late 1930s–1952); the Church of St George (1952–?) were the major source of my research. This paper presents manuscripts form St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Apostolic Exarchate of Sofia. Collecting, study and promotion of composer’s work seeks to place his name where it belongs, i.e. among the most significant Bulgarian church music figures of the twentieth century.
