Summary/Abstract: The interpretation of music of the Baroque period poses a challenge nowadays due to a number of circumstances and mostly to the remoteness of these days in terms of thought from the Baroque culture as well as to the wide audio and performing experience acquired over the centuries until now. A more comprehensive idea of playing keyboard instruments is traceable in the treatises named Versuch, with one of them being Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s treatise, “Versuch uber die wahre Art das Clavier zu spielen” (“Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments”). With the spread of the doctrine of the affections (Affeкtenlehre) in his days and his theoretical knowledge of baroque music figures, his treatise is an invaluable and interesting example of relating theoretical knowledge to instrumental practice. What is even more useful is reading his aesthetic thought referred to our time. This paper seeks to highlight some of the aspects of the interpretational though of the representatives of German Baroque in the light of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s concept of Baroque aesthetic traditions.
