Summary/Abstract: The paper studies publishers of Bulgarian postcards of the late nineteenth and the early twentieth century focusing on the manufacturing of this type of applied graphic design in Bulgaria/Sofia. Publishers of this type of prints have not been subject matter of any study until now and in this context, no information is available about their identification or any interpretation of the existing information. The article seeks to put into scientific circulation less known names of publishers of postcards with contribution to the mass visual culture in Bulgaria in the late nineteenth and the early twentieth century. Some of the leading figures in bookmaking of the period (ex. T. F. Chipev, Ivan Kasurov, Ivan Bozhinov, etc) and in photography (Ivan and Dimiter Karastoianovs, Michael Kamermann, Grigor Paskov, etc.) are presented, as manufacturing and distribution of illustrated postcards has been a secondary business line in addition to their creative activities.
