Summary/Abstract: The present text seeks to reveal the underlying strata of a unique editorial project of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs during 1919-1947, the publishing of a Diplomatic and Consular Yearbook. Although during the 30s there were several attempts to revive the tradition of the Diplomatic and Consular Yearbook, which had started in the last decade of the nineteenth century, the project was not completed until World War II. However, the data gathered under the coordination of Ioan-Aurel Vassiliu and Vasile Anastasiu constituted an important starting point for Gheorghe Crutzescu, the one who finalized the project. Despite some errors in the biographical files of the diplomatic and consular staff, the yearbook published in 1942 is a useful tool for those who wish to study the past of Romanian diplomacy.
