Agriculture as a “Repository” for Excessive Workforce during the Period of Systemic Transformation in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the function of agriculture as a “repository” for labour resources during periods difficult for rural areas and their inhabitants. One of such difficult periods were the years of economic and social transformations following 1989. These years have become the object of analysis based on the available statistical data. Artykuł dotyczy funkcji rolnictwa jako „przechowalni” siły roboczej, w okresach trudnych dla wsi i jej mieszkańców. Jeden z takich okresów stanowiły lata transformacji gospodarczo- społecznej w Polsce, rozpoczęte w 1989 roku. One też stały się przedmiotem analizy opartej na dostępnych danych statystycznych.
