Summary/Abstract: This current issue of South-East Europe Review – ‘Borderland 2: Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey’ – builds on the experience with ‘Borderland 1’ ( SEER 1/2004) that focused on the complex relations between Greece, Albania and FYR Macedonia and in particular on the border regions of these countries. ‘Borderland 2’ sets its focus on three different kinds of countries: Turkey, the country between Europe and Asia; Bulgaria, a former communist country that, from 1 January 2007, has become an EU member state; and ‘old EU member state’ Greece. How can the undoubted economic, cultural and political differences be maintained but also developed in order that stability and peace prevails? This edition consists of essays and reports but, most importantly, of interviews with local actors, politicians, trade unionists, representatives of NGOs and intellectuals.
