Summary/Abstract: The beginning of the modernist and postmodernist era was a true ideological Big-Bang, an indi-vidualist explosion that rendered dispersion and, thus, differentiation. This means expressing sub-jectivity, subjectivization, and the attempt to retrieve the self and activate the personality traits. The identity crisis is a current crisis. This is about the way man lives the past and regards the future. The history of the modern spirit begins with the occurrence of a tendency for rationalist, laic, atheist affi nities, as well as an inclination toward the demythologization of Antiquity. The postmodernism features a crisis of the signifi cance of things as a result of a general disillusion towards the humanist ideals of the modernity. The consequences encompass skepticism and nihilism or relativism.
