Summary/Abstract: In the context of the Anniversary Year of the Holy Unction and the anointing of the sick, this study approaches the new subject of the “theological illnesses” that are deviations in the form and the substance of a theological creation, which make it become no longer the healthy expression of the ecclesial tradition of faith. In the fi rst part of the article, the author analyzes the patristic connota-tions of defi ning a heresy as the pathology of the Church, and emphasizes the therapeutic role of theology. The second part of this study translates this perspective into the recent history of the (Romanian) Orthodox Dogmatics, via problematizing by means several examples (the Sacrament of the Holy Unction in the dogmatic thinking) the known yet unsurpassed “pseudo-morphosis” of the theological discourse.
