Citizenship Education in the Global Perspective

Summary/Abstract: Globalization processes have changed the contemporary world. Exterritoriality and mobility are the main distinguishing features of globalization. We are witnessing the process of building multicultural societies and expansion of the cosmopolitan culture. Citizenship is not only connected with the locality and with the nation. In this context, one of the aims of citizenship education is to prepare the youth to be world citizens, who will be ready to live in the global, cosmopolitan culture. In the presented article an attempt of reconstruction the opinions about the aims of citizenship education in the global perspective was made. Moreover, the researchers’ standpoints of the model of global citizenship were presented.
