Summary/Abstract: This study proposes to test the efficiency of a psychopedagogic intervention for the support of personal and social autonomous behaviors (PSAB) in preschoolers who are 5/6 years old. The educational program was applied for three months, following the training of educators and parents in the field of autonomy education. The activities within the program were organized on four levels: organization of daily routines; use of autonomy encouragement techniques; organization of a stimulating physical compartment; performance of specific PSAB development activities. The results emphasize large increases of preschoolers' level of personal and social autonomy (PSA) (assessed by educators and parents by using the questionnaire) in the experimental group (51 children) compared to the control group (50 children). The post-intervention investigation of the educators who participated in the research emphasized the necessity of developing and using explicit didactic strategies in order to support autonomous behaviors at this age.
