Summary/Abstract: This is the first article from a series of nine to be published in the next volumes of STVDIA ASIATICA by prof. Bernard Le Calloc’h, one of the best authorities for the life and works of Alexander Csoma de Körös (1784-1842), the founder of Tibetology, which aims to carefully reconstruct his voyage from Transylvania to Zanskar. In the first part, the author reconstructs the trajectory of the voyageur through the provinces of Transylvania, passing through Turnu Rosu in Wallachia, and after from Bucharest, where he lived a short period, in Bulgaria and in the Aegean archipelago. The main sources of this reconstruction are the contemporary travellers in East-Eastern Europe. The question of his passport, the departure, the travel through Wallachia are the subjects of the first part. The article in accompanied by 11 plates.
