Auditor - a profession or a mission

Summary/Abstract: The presented paper shows the circumstances and reasons for creating the auditors' profession both in Poland and throughout the world. It was determined that auditors are independent and on a mission. However this mission cannot be fully accomplished, which is the case of other professions.
