Summary/Abstract: Expenses are an important basis of activities of every business entity. Because of that, they should be constantly recorded, analyzed, and classified. These actions are the subject of cost accounting. The paper presents important attributes of modern cost accounting, taking into consideration not only manufacturing activities, but also problems connected with overhead cost of management, especially in small enterprises.
