Summary/Abstract: The mesmerizing love story between Lady Viviette Constantine, the aristocratic lady and Swithin StCleeve, the poor astronomer, two lovers pertaining to two different worlds, is unfolding beneath the heavens and the stars; science and passion collide, tumults of the soul break out. This paper analyzes the social and cultural concerns of the late 19th century such as: sexuality, science and class as they transit in Hardy’s interstellar space permeated with desire and love.
