Summary/Abstract: Słowacki was fascinated by the cities because of their energy, vitality, energy of transformations manifested in the history. The poet liked to observe them from the heights as it enabled him to see the spiritual sense of these transformations. There are pictures of many cities in Słowacki's works: London, Paris, Geneva, Rome, Florence, Naples, Cairo, Alexandria, Kremenets, Vilnius, Warsaw, Bar. In the mystic period Słowacki discovers another city – Jerusalem of the Sun. In its picture the poet discovers an optimistic sense of history and his perspective changes radically. This „City of God” is not seen underneath, it „descends from the clouds”, the poet must look up to the sky.
