The Living Body and the Power of the Look (The Dancing Body)

Summary/Abstract: The article is an atempt, on the example of classic ballet, to combine phenomenology (Hus-serl and Merlo-Ponty) and Foucault and thus to demostrate different mechanisms of composing a body. The basic problems in the context are connected with the relationship between body and perception. How the look emanating from the body is actually forming it; the way the look of the Other constitute the ballet body and etc. The aim of the analysis is to show the discipline techniques creating the "strange" body of the ballet dancer. The author's look is trying to carefully decompose the space of the ballet training room.
