Summary/Abstract: Starting from a signature of painter Simion Silaghi by which this recommends as apprentice of Andraş from Cluj, this research reunites a series of works dated between 1748 and 1773, none signed, which, based on analogies which they present with the creation from the beginning of Simion Silaghi, I attribute them to his master. The important activity segment reconstructed faces us with a painter known on an extensive geographic area, recipient of numerous orders, who especially remarked as icon maker, but he also dealt with mural painting. Used models, especially those for the icon of the Pantokrator, indicate a direct contact with Ukrainian art, either following training in a workshop from Maramureş, Upper Hungary or southern Poland, or beside a peregrine painter native of these areas. His style is mainly graphical and very decorative, the artist remarking firstly as subtle drawer.
