Summary/Abstract: Opinions on an unusual autobiography of the warrior-lord and first Indian Mogul, Babur (1483–1530), an absolutely unique literary creation for the respective geographical area and epoch. Contrary to Western tradition, where the tradition of memoirs edited by military chieftains goes back to the epoch of Xenophon and Julius Caesar. Babur had neither forerunners nor imitators.
