The possibility of using fuzzy numbers in the study of satisfaction

Summary/Abstract: One of the basic scales used in measuring the satisfaction is ordinal scale. The use of it involves the use of statistical methods appropriate for continuous variables. One way to circumvent the difficulties involved is a possibility to assign to the individual responses on a scale as the linguistic variables the corresponding values of fuzzy numbers. This paper presents a procedure for determining the rate of satisfaction with use of the triangular fuzzy numbers for the services provided by local government units. In the next part of the article, the results obtained in this way are confronted with the results of classical satisfaction index (CSI).
