Regional policy of the state in the context of construction of broadband infrastructure on the example of eastern Poland

Summary/Abstract: The principal aim of this article is an assessment of both the possibility of increasing the development and an improvement of competitiveness of eastern Poland regions by the construction of broadband infrastructure. General issues concerning regional policy, closely connected with the development and competitiveness, are described in the article. In addition, the analysis of current economic situation and the degree of development of the Information Society in the examined regions are presented. The article focuses on the regional policy of eastern Poland in particular on issues related to the construction of broadband infrastructure, which is claimed to influence the development and competitiveness of this region.
