Summary/Abstract: Summary The article deals with the concept of J. Bentham’s Panopticon, focusing on the aspect of visual communication. The first part of the article introduces the etymology of the notion of the panopticon and its meanings. The second part gives an analysis and interprets the concept of J. Bentham’s Panopticon, which is the kernel of this research concentrating on the visual communication specificity. The author comes to the conclusion that the Panopticon, due to its architectual design, is a communication system hierarchizing and centralizing the movement of information.
