Ukraine: the Newly Built State and Economic Institutions

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses a typical national case of economic transformation, which is subordinated to the task of establishing control by the national elite over economic power through various distributive coalitions – economic groups of production and finance – which are closely connected with political power and the economy. The process is accompanied by restricting access for promising big foreign investors, by economic crisis and anomie. The authors describe the impact of this type of changes on economic processes and discuss the relevant changes in legislature.
