Summary/Abstract: An analysis of the issues concerning food supplying, corresponding to the 16-17th centuries required the consultation of many historical sources, the interdisciplinary research being absolutely obligatory. The chronicles and the Saxon, Hungarian and Romanian diaries contain a multitude of details concerning everyday life. The memoirs or the epistolary writings represent precious documentary sources, contributing to a high extent to the revealing of the significant sequences of private life including the problem of food. Guild statutes, notes on old Romanian books formed important documentary sources. Humanists, chroniclers, foreign travelers create extensive descriptions on the theme of consumption of wine endorsing: wine plantations, varieties of wines, wine production, wine share in alcoholic beverages (daily or on longer periods), wine consumption at the feasts organized by the guilds, by the nobility, the quality of wine, the mode of preparation of wine, special receipts, the adverse effects of the excessive consumption of wine, drunkenness, family disorder, death caused by excessive consumption of wine.
