Summary/Abstract: During Ottoman era in the Balkans solar calendars were used together with the official lunar (Islamic-Hijra) ones. In this context we discovered that a few solar calendars in Ottoman Turkish, with Slavic words used to name the months, make part of a collection of manuscripts kept in the Gazi Husrev-bey Library in Sarajevo. In this work we present one of them, which, besides being possessed of usual details that calendars of this kind have, brings notes on the changes in the nature during the solar year and suggestions on the ways to harmonize human behavior in many aspects according to different periods of the year. We made an effort to translate in Bosnian and transcribe these notes, originally classified in a few different categories, such as whether changes, changes in human body condition, advices on nutrition as well as on what to avoid and be aware of. Their special value is reflected in an important amount of information about peoples’ customs and habits, understanding of nature, meteorology and medicine in the 18th century. In other words apart from providing material for folkloric researches this calendar depicts the way of life and human sense of time based on changes of seasons in the solar year.
