Summary/Abstract: Labour law, a separate branch of law in legal doctrine and judicature, has a direct impact on how social policy is implemented in Poland. As everyday experience shows, the current normative model of hiring employees directly influences conventionally defined sub-policies such as the employment policy (prevention of unemployment, the shaping of pay and safe working conditions), demographic (population) policy and family policy, housing policy, migration policy, social security and social assistance policy, and policy for the prevention and combating pathological phenomena. Consequently, a thesis can be put forward that the legal structure of an employment agreement has a direct effect on the sphere of employees’ social security construed as the state’s actions to ensure the welfare of all its citizens. The sources of livelihood include work and social benefits.
