Summary/Abstract: In the article were considered two ontological principles for determining existence: Cartesian coordinates and the coordinates of Dante. Cartesian coordinates, i.e., the definition through identity, through the classification and comparison of the knowable with the given field of values, is the way to define the non-self-existent. Dante's coordinates, i.e., the definition through negation, through the rejection of the given field of values, is the way to determine independent existence. The principle of Dante's coordinates reveals the ontological foundation of personal and cultural existence. Also shown are modi operandi of man in the space of Dante's coordinates.
