Summary/Abstract: The Illusion of Love, Iacov Tihman’s movie, poses a number of serious questions on the status of human condition throughout history, especially in seemingly peaceful times that abruptly change. This film is the depiction of a world destroyed not by the unleashed blind force of nature, as one would expect, but by the blind force of human beings who thus loose their humane status. The disappearance of the old world is presented in a tragic-realistic style that occasionally becomes sapiential and sublime. It is no less true that we witness what is stereotypically called the victory of life after so much torment, death and destruction. The paper follows the manner in which the film manages to cover all the tragic facets of the Holocaust in a seemingly simple yet very comprehensive story.
